Michael had a special birthday today.  He turned 25!!     I hope your birthday was fun, has it been?

Your birthday card is hanging on the clock in the entry.  I forgot to mail it.  Now how do you suppose that happened?

I love this picture of you taken here at my house during Thanksgiving.

I wish for you many more birthdays and a lot of luck with what ever it is that you want in life.  God Bless you.

My eternal love, Mema

Pre - K

This is Kami's Pre-K class at school.  Aren't they a great bunch of kids?   I love the picture.  Her mother got it and let me borrow it so I could scan it.  Kami is my g-granddaughter.  She is very proud of all of her friends and teachers.  She is standing on the top row, left.

MY NEW DESK

Here is a picture of my new desk, at least it is new to me and I love it.  Larry and Denise gave it to me.  It is so much roomier then the other desk they gave me, and it has more storage space.   Thank you kids!!

Now I can see out the window into the back yard.  The other desk blocked the view.  It will be prettier out there this summer, right now it is mostly leaves from a neighbors tree on the ground.  The pot plants have all moved inside for the winter.  I am holding a coffee mug with Star~Net Logo on it.
This is Sophie with me.  Denise loves to take pictures of Sophie, so do I.  :)  She is wearing new white hard sole shoes.  She is really learning to walk.  She is such a little doll.

HAPPY FOURTH ANNIVERSARY

Another family was started on 20 Dec 2003 when Brian Duane and Laura Ann was married.    It was a beautiful wedding with many family members and many friends as guests.

Today they are now a family.   Baby Clara Jane joined them on 13 Nov 2007, a bundle of joy for us all to love.  Clara is my g-granddaughter.   She joins her cousins, my other three g-grandchildren to make my joy complete.   I love you, Brian, Laura and Clara.

Boys Learn To Walk Also

Denise sent me this picture of Aidan learning to walk with the walker.   It has really walked many a mile with little feet pushing it.   I think Elizabeth was first, then Kami, Aidan and Sophie.  We can't fine a picture of Jacob pushing it.   He would have been after Elizabeth.
They are all so precious to me.  Two grandchildren and three g-grandchildren.  I love them all!!

HAPPY THIRTEENTH ANNIVERSARY

Thirteen years ago a new family was started
with the marriage of Tim and Melissa. It
has been an interesting thirteen years.
During that time three wonderful children
have joined them. There was Patrick in 1996,
what a guy. Our little red haired girl, Elizabeth,
joined the family in 1999. Lo and behold, along
comes Jacob in 2001. Jacob looks more like his
dad. Elizabeth has Pepa's red hair and he did not
get to see her. Patrick is a combination of both
parents.
In 2005, this picture was taken of the family.
Isn't it a great picture of one of my favorite families?
I wish for you many more years to enjoy and finish
raising those kids. Then you can look forward to
grandchildren. May you be well blessed with them.
Much Love to all. Mom/Mema

New Baby Girl

Here is an updated picture of little Sofia Rene.  It is a camera phone picture.  Isn't she cute?
Another adorable little girl to love.  Sofia is pictured a few posts back at the age of 6 weeks.

SNOW/ICE IN PARIS

I was told to do a new post. Well here is one. These pictures remind me of the bad weather they are having in parts of the country as I type. These are four that I happen to have handy.

This picture was taken in January 2007. It was sleet, but it covered the ground enough to show white. Kami is bundled up standing in my front yard. The Poodle Tree used to stand tall and proud in the flower bed over her right shoulder. Beautiful Bearded Iris live there now.

This picture was taken on 15 April 2004. Elizabeth and Jacob were visiting me here in Paris and they really did not like the snow at all. But I put grocery sacks over their shoes and got a few pictures before they went into the house to get warm.

This picture was taken 5 Feb 2002 from my front porch. We really had a deep snow this time. It snowed all day long and was just beautiful, but oh so cold.

Elizabeth is now in the second grade at school and Kami is now in Pre-K and loving it.
Sophie is working at Star~Net Online Systems. She is keeping Mamaw in line so she will do her work right. Sophie has her own room where she works and is keeping every one on their toes, including her Papaw and her dad.

My Many Talents

Here we are, most of my many Talents, a family of five and a family of three is missing. I am holding my dog, Crackers.

We had a great Thanksgiving dinner, with food coming from every one. We have a great bunch of good cooks in our Family.

Some make the same dish every time for they are famous with that dish. Martha makes the best Sweet Potato Casserole.
Denise makes Pink Stuff, heavenly. Janet if famous for her Baked Beans and Green Bean Casserole. This year Michael made the Baked Beans and two Pumpkins pies. Joe brought a pecan pie, Christi makes a mean Broccoli, cheese casserole. Karen makes wonderful mashed Potatoes and Kimmie brought the best rolls, Kevin made brownies. I did the Turkey, dressing and gravy. Grandma always brings Cottage cheese and Cranberry sauce because she knows our grandkids love cottage cheese.

If I missed anyone I am sorry. We will enjoy being together again for Christmas Dinner, all of us. :)

I am so proud of this picture of my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. They had it made for the church directory. Isn't it good?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...80th.

My children and their spouses honored me with a party for my 80th birthday yesterday, 3 Nov 2007. The 3rd was really my daddy's birthday, mine is the 6th. But the 3rd fell on Saturday and and we had a great time. I am posting a picture of me here and a link to 44 pictures that my niece Donna posted to The Tallant Tattler.

On Saturday morning we , my children & spouses, had breakfast at my home with our favorite menu, biscuits, sausage, gravy, and all the fixings. They also gave me a set of new phones that I really needed. They are up and working great. So when you call, I will be able to hear you better. :)

It was a wonderful day and I want to thank you all and thank the family and friends that attended. I love you all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

My first baby born 58 years ago has retired and just had a birthday. He had a cake and ice cream, chicken dinner and all the trimmings.

Then we went down in his woods and had a big bonfire. What fun on a cool night in Texas.

The certificate he is holding he got when he retired a few months ago. He also got a fishing lure and a watch.

Happy birthday Chester and many more. Love you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

In October 1999 two beautiful baby girls were born eight days apart. They both decended from Tom and Lula Huggins Tallant, who lived in Lamar County and is buried here also.

Elizabeth, on your left, is a g-granddaughter and Sarah is a gg-granddaughter of the Tallants.
I have pictures of them dressed alike, but no 2007 pictures of Elizabeth yet. I will post them when I get them.

They are such sweet precious little girls, in school and loving every minute of it. They are 8 years old now.

This picture was taken in 2001 at the family reunion.

My Day

Crackers and I got up as usual before six. She went outside and then I fed her and gave her her pill. Before I know it she is asleep again in her lounge chair.

I get my shower, make my bed and dress for my morning with Denise and Sophie. I fixed breakfast for Larry, Denise and myself. Larry removed the Propane Tank from the trunk of my car and went off to Star~Net to work. Denise and Sophie visited until 10:15, then they left to go visit Grandma until noon.

Karen and Kami came in at 12:15 and we had a bite of lunch, then Karen went back to work.

Kami and I built a cave in the den floor, she thought it was hot, so got the fan set up under the desk to blow into her cave. It fell in a few times but we finally got tired of rebuilding it.

We went outside and took a walk up Robin Rd. and onto E. Houston St. She rode her little tricycle until we were nearly back home. She abandoned it and ran the rest of the way back. It was quicker and easier.

Then we picked up some pecans from a neighbors yard. It was a very nice day.

New Room

Well, here is the two pictures that Denise took this morning. It looks better in person. :)
I wanted one with the window dressing, but that will come later. It is a great improvement.

The shirt and cap on the wall, Denise made them for Duane and I to wear at one of our earlier Family Reunions.
The cap and shirt has pins made with pictures of the 9 grandchildren at that time. That is the only time we ever wore them. I wanted to keep them clean.

The little animals and jug on the top shelf my kids made out of clay in grade school. They have aged well. :)

New Room

Well it is pretty well finished.

All it needs now is the closet doors hung back up. Larry took them down, maybe he can put them up again.

I don't have a pic of it completed, but here is a picture of the new carpet that Denise took after the man finished yesterday.

Patrick will have his own bed to sleep in tomorrow night. :)

New Room

Well, it took 4 days to paint it, but it sure does look nice.
Now to get the floor taken care of. The carpet has a hole in it where I cut one so I could see if tile was under the carpet. It has some paint on it also for I wasn't very careful since I was getting rid of it.

I hung some things back up, and placed pictures on the shelves. They really do look nice. I can't wait to get the funiture back in and the curtins hung again.

Boy, I am really tired and the ball game is going to waste and me setting here. They only have one more game tomorrow until next year. The RANGERS that is.

The picture was taken a little while after I moved here in 1999. We will see a difference in the next picture when I am finished. :)

The old rocking chair was the one that my daddy always sat in. It is now in the living room.

Duane built the cedar chest for me and I was so proud of it. He also built one for Karen and Kimmie, but he didn't get one built for Kari, so I told her she could have mine. She is real proud of it. He also built a gossip bench out of cedar, that belongs to his other granddaughter, Elizabeth.

New Room

Well I have started on my quest to paint the little bedroom. It is empty now and I bought a can of paint. Now to just get started.

I love to paint, it is just getting it ready to paint and cleaning up after it is done.

Maybe I can get a picture when it is finished. :)

Long Ago

Darlene, I enjoyed your post about Braden, but I wanted to comment with a picture and did not know how. So I will just do a post here with the picture. Do you know who this is?

Denise was a Rebelett her senior year in high school. Wasn't she a doll?
The Rebelett was the drill team for William B. Travis High School in Austin. They were really good.

I think this Mamaw is not quite as high stepping now as she was then. :)

IT RAINED TODAY

While I was gone to a baby shower this afternoon, I got a 1/2 inch of rain. My yard really needed it and I am so glad for getting it. It was a great baby shower and rain shower. God Bless.

Yesterday I went to Grapevine with my daughter and the other grandmother to see one of my grandsons and his wife. They have moved into another home and we wanted to see the house and the kids. It was a beautiful day for a trip, but construction was a headache going through Dallas. My daughter had a few panic attacks, but with her son on the phone, he would say, Mom you are doing fine. Well they were not really panic attacks, just anxious to get there and the miles were long. :)

We saw some sights, had lunch and the little Mama went off to a baby shower her job was giving for her. The Grandson took us to see his school room where he teaches Art. This is his 4th. year there and he loves it.

We headed home, must not be late for a Sunday School Class party. The party was at six and she dropped the two grandma's at their homes and was just a few minutes late getting there.

It was really a funfilled day.

Good Morning

What a beautiful day here in Texas. It is in the upper sixties, and the sun is shinning. I wish I could just go out on the patio and sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. But alas, duty calls. A load of wash in the machine, the trash is out ready to be picked up around noon.

I still need to make my bed, but am dressed and ready to go to genealogy in a while. I can't hear the phone ring out there, so I am taking my phone to see if it will work, it will disturb the peace and quiet, but at least I will hear it ring. :)

I wish for you all a wonderful, glorious day.

TGIF

Another week has flown by.

It is Friday night and I have had a very good week.

I finally got my yard in order. The flowers need watering if it doesn't rain tonight.

Today I visited Kami at school. It was grandparents day and this gr-grandparent went along.

She was very proud to tell us that she was the leader today. She said that meant that she was first in line.
She pointed out all of the different things on the wall. Across the room hung every ones family tree.
Her tree held a picture of her and her mother. See the picture below.

She seemed so very proud of her school and that is good.

She found my phone head set and called her Ganny this afternoon. They talked for a while. Then she opted to take a nap instead of going to Walmart. So we both napped.

It was a great day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I forgot to post Kim's picture on her birthday.
This is my beautiful granddaughter Kim, on your right.
I am so very proud of her as I am sure she knows.

She is one of the three K's, Karen, Kami and Kim.

I will post the picture of them with their two pets.

Kim is a hair stylest. She keeps my hair curled and she
does a great job. I wish I could keep it as good as she does. :)

Love you kiddo. Mema

My gr-granddaughters.....

....are a sight to behold. Kami starts to school Monday, so Sophie will be the youngest. Aren't they precious? I wish Denise's camera took better pictures of old women. Maybe some makeup would help. We had breakfast together Wednesday for the last time. Kami and Aidan will be in school and Sophie will have her time with her gr-grandmothers on Wednesday's now. And her mamaw will be standing by with a camera in hand ready to record memories. I have another great one due in October. Will it be a boy or a girl? We will not know until it arrives into the arms of its loving parents and extended family. What fun babies are.

Lady Bird Lake

I have just been reading the Austin American Statesman online. They have renamed our Town Lake running through Austin.
We walked many a mile on the Hike and Bike Trail on our Town Lake.
So what, they have given the lake a new name. It sure sounds better then town lake. Ms. Lady Bird sure was a driving force to help make Texas beautiful. I agree to its new name, but reading the comments in the paper are running about half and half for and against.
So now, we go to Austin and at dusk dark, we watch the bats fly from under the Congress Ave. Bridge over Lady Bird Lake!!

Really a sight to see. The picture is of Duane and Michael at Town Lake, with the Congress Ave. Bridge in the background, waiting for the bats to fly. Wonder what year that was? Do you know?

A NEW FAMILY MEMBER

I am introducing Caden to you. He is the newest member of the family, and is a doll. Caden is Aunt Glen's gg-grandson, and Deretha's great-grandson. Hey, that makes Amy a grandmother. Chelsey and Zack, congratulations. You have a fine little boy. I know you are so very proud of him. Don't forget to share pictures now and then as he grows.

Happy Anniversary.....

Wendell and Ella, your card is hanging on the clock waiting to be mailed. I just forgot to mail it.

They were married in June 1948, so it has been a lot of years together and I hope for many more.

They are the parents of Brenda, Gail and Curtis, and the loving grandparent's of Dacia and Trent,
and the gr-grandparents of Ben and Zack.

I hope you had a wonderful day. Mary

Happy Birthday

My youngest son-in-law had a birthday a few days ago and I forgot to post him a birthday wish. However I did not forget it was his birthday.

He is the loving husband of Melissa, the dad of Patrick, Elizabeth and Jacob.

Tim is a dedicated teacher of high school band. Plays his horn in the orchestra at his church, and has played in a couple of municipal bands in past years. Tim loves music, and his family.

The picture of Tim and Melissa was taken at dinner at Wednesday night Church last year.

I am proud of you Tim.
