BLOSSOM — Local author Wesley Tallant is scheduled for a book signing at Hastings in Paris from 4 to 6 p.m. July 11 for his newest book, “The Comancheros and Jake Hardy Barnes.”
The book is a sequel to the author’s first book “Jake Hardy Barnes, the Adventure Begins.”
Set in June 1860, Jake is on his way home from a business trip to Santa Fe, N.M., when he finds the smoldering remains of a covered wagon. The bodies of a man and two small boys lie next to the wagon.
Jake finds a young girl in a nearby cave, and she tells him that her mother and sister were taken by the men who killed her father and brothers. After escorting her to safety, Jake organizes a small army of some of the toughest men in the New Mexico territory. They find that more women have been kidnapped. Their mission is to bring the women back at all costs.
Tallant is a Blossom resident. He retired from the Paris Fire Department in 2004 after 24 years of service. He has been married for the past 36 years to his wife and has three grown sons. He is currently writing the third book in the Jakes Hardy Barnes series.
The book is available at Hastings in Paris or online from PublishAmerica, Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com.
