Happy Anniversary.....

Wendell and Ella, your card is hanging on the clock waiting to be mailed. I just forgot to mail it.

They were married in June 1948, so it has been a lot of years together and I hope for many more.

They are the parents of Brenda, Gail and Curtis, and the loving grandparent's of Dacia and Trent,
and the gr-grandparents of Ben and Zack.

I hope you had a wonderful day. Mary

Happy Birthday

My youngest son-in-law had a birthday a few days ago and I forgot to post him a birthday wish. However I did not forget it was his birthday.

He is the loving husband of Melissa, the dad of Patrick, Elizabeth and Jacob.

Tim is a dedicated teacher of high school band. Plays his horn in the orchestra at his church, and has played in a couple of municipal bands in past years. Tim loves music, and his family.

The picture of Tim and Melissa was taken at dinner at Wednesday night Church last year.

I am proud of you Tim.

Happy Birthday

Today is Martha's birthday. She is my daughter-in-law, the wife of Chester, the mother of Karen and Kim and the grandmother of Kami. We all love her.

I want to wish her a Happy Birthday since I forgot to mail her a card in time for it to arrive today. I did hand it to her last night as she was leaving.

The picture was taken with her cake in 2002, it sure was a good cake as I remember.

Have a happy relaxing day today Martha and I wish you many more. Love you, Mary

Mago's Funeral

Wesley, Denise, Melissa and I attended Mago's funeral in Austin on Wednesday, June 20th. It was a sad day for us all as we left Waco in a driving rain, and it rained all the way to Austin. We arrived at the cemetery and it was just a sprinkle, then before the ceremony started, it started raining again. I heard it said that the rain was God's tears of joy at having Mago home with him.

Mago/Mimi, was Mary Elizabeth McCluskey Shular. They lived across the street from us for the 42 years that we lived in Austin. There was many friends and loved ones there. We met Mago's daughter Kathy's new husband, Larry and granddaughter, Carrie's husband, Tom. Mago would have been a gr-grandmother in the near future.

After the funeral we made our way back to the "neighborhood" where we had lived so long. We had lunch with some more dear friends, Lucille and Marcene, Louise and Nellie. We had visited with Virginia and Jenny at the funeral. I just know that Mago was enjoying the visit with us.

It was Wesley's first time to go back to see the home where he was raised, it was quite different then when we left it 18 June 1999. In fact, as we were getting into the cars and the truck, Wesley picked Mago up and tried to put her in the truck with me. The fun of that helped to lighten the leaving, at least for me.

In the picture is, from the left, Nellie Havens, Louise Rawls, Me, Lucille and daughter Marcene Lancaster.

Beloved Friend, Neighbor

This is Mago (taken by Melissa in 2002, standing on her own driveway) a wonderful friend who was a grandmother figure to my younger kids when they were growing up. She was like a sister to me, we all loved and respected her.
Mago passed away this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers . She leaves a beloved daughter and granddaughter to mourn her. And of course the neighborhood friends, who visited at night, setting in her yard, talking, watching ballgames on TV, kids, etc.
We had a wonderful neighborhood when the children were growing up. She will be missed by many. God Bless you Mago, we all loved and miss you.

A Treasured Picture

This is a picture of two of my aunts and an uncle. On the left is my Aunt Goldie, next to her is Aunt Eunice, holding her gr-grandson, Ben, Uncle Udell became my uncle when he married Aunt Eunice in Nov of 1939. I love all three of these people, they have been my aunts for almost 80 years. They were my mother's youngest sisters.

God Bless each of you, and I hope I get to see Ben the next time he visits. Much love, Mary
